Rhizosphere and Soil Microbial Ecology / Biogeochemistry
We study microbial communities and how they are impacted by plants and their surrounding soil environment. Using next-gen sequencing, LC and GC- mass spectrometry, we are answering questions about the distribution and function of microbial communities in the root-zone and soil habitats of both native and human-managed ecosystems. We also interested in how plants and microbes interact to create ecosystems, cycle nutrients, and contribute to the process of soil organic matter formation.
